All Clients Please Read:

Once an appointment is scheduled on behalf of a client, it is expected that the client utilize that time since it is difficult to resell previously booked time slots on short notice. In an effort to discourage short-notice cancellations, the Molecular Cytology Core has operated by the following cancellation policy as of January 16, 2004:

**MCC APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION POLICY**

For blocks of time of 2 hours or less:
All cancellations must be made 48 hrs prior to the appointment (weekends do not count as part of the 48 hrs).
For blocks of time of more than 2 hours:
All cancellations must be made 5 business days (120 hrs) in advance.
In the event that a client does not adhere to this policy:
Failure to cancel on time or to use scheduled time will result in the PI being billed for any unused time.

We always try to schedule other clients into cancelled time slots, and we don't charge for any time we subsequently fill after a cancellation. Clients who have pressing needs to get additional time on an instrument should always consult with core staff to be put on the waiting list.
Qualified users with significant experience can schedule beyond the 5 pm closing time.  The core staff will also try to accommodate clients who want to use longer blocks of time on weekends.  Since a staff member has to come in to open and close the facility, we generally expect reservations for weekend times to be 4 hrs or longer.  Weekend and evening hours are subject to the availability of a staff member.  These extended hours are only for qualified experienced users and must be explicitly and individually approved by senior core personnel.
